Angela Deane, founded Seeds of Hope and created the "Seed of Hope" pin after seeing several family members and a good friend personally touched by cancer. Their fight inspired her to find a way to honor and keep their hope alive and to make a difference in the lives of others. With a background in art history and education, Deane created the "Seed of Hope" pin as a symbol of our daily dedication to our own or a loved one's fight for life. And, to remind us how every seed of hope can make a difference. She currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband and three children. She can be contacted by e-mail through the contact form.
Angela met artist, Robert Coogan, at the Appalachian Center for Crafts in Smithville, TN, where he works as Metal Department Head. His work has been exhibited internationally and has been featured in many industry publications. Coogan donated his time and talent to work on this project in honor of a dear friend who passed away from cancer several years ago. Coogan handcrafted the "Seed of Hope" pin in his shop, creating a truly beautiful piece of wearable art. You can view other pieces of Coogan's work at his website.
Robert and Angela chose to support the National Foundation for Cancer Research because of its historical dedication to scientific research to end cancer. Visit their website at http://www.nfcr.org or call 1-(800)-321-CURE. |
